41,868 fans were treated to a fine game at Forbes Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Oyster Bay Tomcats plated 4 runs
in the 9th inning and won by the slimmest of margins, 9 to 8.
 
The score was tied at 8 after nine.  Oyster Bay was victorious in the 10th
inning.  Willy Adames delivered a one-base hit resulting in an exciting win
for Oyster Bay and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans.
Oyster Bay had 14 hits for the night while Los Angeles had 8.  
 
Alex Faedo(1-0) went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Andrew
Nardi(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He pitched 2/3 of an inning
allowing 2 hits and no walks.
 
TAMPA BAY AT DAYTON

The Dayton Grits bested the Tampa Bay Firestorm by a 4 to 1 score at Grit
Park.
 
In the bottom of the 3rd inning Dayton scored 3 runs.  That was all the
offense they were to need.  Neither team managed to score after the 3rd
inning.  
 
Zach Eflin(2-1) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 5 and 2/3 innings.
Eflin got help from Shelby Miller who earned his 2nd save.  Tarik Skubal(0-2)
suffered the loss.  
 
 
LAS VEGAS AT SEATTLE

Matt Olson blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI at Pilot Stadium where the Seattle
Jets beat the Las Vegas Aces by the score of 4 to 2.
 
Seattle drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
plating one baserunner on 3 base hits.  Clayton Kershaw(2-0) got help from
Camilo Doval who pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 2nd save.
 
The loss was charged to Ranger Suarez(0-2).  He surrendered 8 hits and no
walks in 1 and 2/3 innings.
 
NASHVILLE AT PHILADELPHIA

Zack Wheeler struck out 13 batters and Christian Encarnacion blasted 2
homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Philadelphia Freedom ballclub embarrassed the
Nashville Classics by the count of 19 to 3.
 
The Philadelphia fans enjoyed the offense provided by Encarnacion.  He clubbed
a three-run home run in the 1st inning, cracked a solo homerun in the 4th
inning and laced a single in the 5th inning.  Philadelphia bats were very
productive in the 1st inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 4 hits.  The
Philadelphia offense was as consistent as it was powerful.  They scored in
every inning, making a joke of the Nashville pitching.  
 
Wheeler(1-2) allowed 3 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Mike
Clevinger(0-2) was tagged with the loss.  He gave up 4 hits and no walks
without retiring a batter.  
 
Wheeler was jubilant in the hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out
there.  The fans gave me a lot of support as did my teammates.  We got the
victory and I'll sure take 13 strikeouts anytime!'
 
OKLAHOMA AT MASSACHUSETTS

Marcell Ozuna had 2 base hits as the Oklahoma Missilemen topped the
Massachusetts Mayhem by a score of 2 to 1 at Mass Mayhem Mall.
 
Oklahoma came up with 2 runs in the 2nd inning with the help of 3 hits.  The
early run support proved sufficient for Framber Valdez(1-1) and Oklahoma.
That was all the run support Valdez required.  Oklahoma totaled 9 hits on the
night.  
 
Devin Williams recorded his 1st save.  George Kirby(1-1) absorbed the loss.
'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Valdez, 'I got burned
on a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'
 
ATLANTIC CITY AT GOTHAM

Third baseman Jon Berti had 2 base hits as the Gotham Knights defeated the
Atlantic City Surf by a score of 7 to 1 at Arkham Stadium.
 
Gotham scored 5 runs in the 5th inning when they came up with 3 base hits.
The key at-bat was by D.J. Stewart who thrilled the crowd when he cleared the
bases with a Grand Slam homerun.  Gotham rapped out 9 hits for the night.
 
The win was credited to David Robertson(1-1) who went 2 and 1/3 innings
allowing no runs. Freddy Peralta(1-1) was given the loss.  He pitched 4 and
1/3 innings and surrendered 4 hits and 2 walks.
 
DELAWARE AT VANCOUVER

Starling Marte hit a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Vancouver Flames defeated
the Delaware Devils 8 to 7 at B.C. Place.
 
Justin Topa(1-0) got the win with a steady relief outing.  He surrendered 2
hits and 1 walk in 2 and 1/3 innings.  Delaware had a chance in the 9th but
they came up short.  
 
Jhoan Duran(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief. He allowed 4 hits and no
walks in 1 and 1/3 innings.
